The Chefs meet the Teamaker
An exhilarating evening of tea gastronomy saw the Chefs meeting the Teamaker, as Dilmah Founder Merrill J. Fernando and his sons Malik and Dilhan joined the Chefs on the tea culinary adventure. Tea was definitely the nucleus of this gastronomic evening as Dilmah Udawatte Tea infused Consomme, was followed by Ceylon Cinnamon Spice Tea Caipirinha.
A Salad of Negombo Jumbo Prawns with a dressing of Dilmah Exceptional Lively Lime with Orange Tea, and a Fillet of Dilmah Ceylon Souchong encrusted Beef ensued. Simon Gault’s prize winning Dilmah Mulled Rose and French Vanilla Tea Cocktail added to the glamour. As the Chefs shed their aprons and picked up the microphone the evening took a more entertaining turn with the Haka performed by two Kiwis and a Belgian, and Chef Mario offering his rendition of Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ in tribute to the notoriously determined Dilmah Founder.

“Good singing, a little bit of dancing, good camaraderie until early hours in the morning.”
“Bernd Uber here from Australia reporting in. At the Hill Club last night we had an absolutely beautiful four course meal created by the Chefs. Every course had tea involved. Very very highly creative and a great evening to be had with the Fernando family being present. Afterwards we had some fantastic celebrations, lots of good singing, a little bit of dancing, good camaraderie and everybody joined in until early hours in the morning and we had a memorable experience. Bernd Uber signing out.”
